Schedule Your Last Checkup And Cleaning Of 2016

stewart-checkup-cleaningThe end of the year is approaching fast! When was the last time you made time to see the dentist? Why not schedule your last checkup and cleaning of 2016? You can use your benefits before they expire and have your teeth properly cleaned. This is vital, especially during a season that encourages the consumption of so many sugary foods and drinks.

How Often Should You See the Dentist?

We recommend seeing your dentist every six months for a checkup and c \leaning, as we’re not alone! The American Dental Association makes the same recommendation. However, should you have high risk factors for developing periodontal disease, we may discuss more frequent visits, such as every three to four months, to allow the doctor to properly monitor and manage the disease.

Checkups

A checkup allows the doctor to examine your gums, teeth, and jaw for signs of trouble. We can then administer treatment before the issue can progress and threaten your smile’s health and stability. We will look for signs of decay, gingivitis, gum disease, and even screen for oral cancer. We also watch for the possible warning signs of bruxism (teeth grinding) or TMJ disorder.

Cleanings

A cleaning is performed in the same visit, in which we use either a manual tool or an ultrasonic scaler to remove plaque from the teeth. Doing so reduces the risk of tooth decay and gum inflammation, protecting your smile. Additional benefits include fresher breath and a brighter smile.

Use Your Benefits Before They Expire

Along with preventive care, we can also see if you require restorations or cosmetic treatments to improve the beauty and function of your smile. By scheduling a visit now, you can use your 2016 benefits before they expire. We’re also scheduling appointments for January, when your 2017 benefits will be available.
