Starting With Your Child’s Exam and Cleaning

When your child comes to our office for the first time, we want to conduct a detailed exam. With a checkup, we can use advanced imaging technology to examine the smile with precision and accuracy, identifying issues that need treatment and planning care with greater detail. We recommend a checkup every six months, so we can monitor the smile as it changes and grows. In the same visit, we will also clean the teeth to remove harmful layers of plaque and tartar buildup, improving the health of their smiles!

Mouthguards

We know that when kids play sports there is always the risk of a chipped or cracked tooth, or even a knocked-out one. While standard boil-and-bite mouthguards from sporting goods stores are effective, we can offer a greater level of protection for little smiles. In our office, we can create custom mouthguards that fit their smiles better and provide a greater level of protection, one that limits the risk of cracked, chipped, or knocked-out teeth. These will be easy to use, clean, and store too!

Sealants and Fluoride

Children of all ages have a high risk of tooth decay. We understand, and we offer preventive visits to help limit the risk of cavities forming in their smiles. For example, as part of their six month visit, we can apply fluoride to the teeth in the form of a special varnish. Fluoride then strengthens the outer enamel to make cavities less likely, and can help protect weakened portions of the enamel too.

Since kids have a hard time reaching the molars in the back of the mouth when they brush and floss, we can help there as well. With dental sealants, we place a special protective coating on the rear teeth, so food and drink particles cannot be trapped there. These can stay in place for up to ten years!

Orthotropics

With orthotropics, we can help guide the growth of the smile and oral structures to ensure your little one can breathe properly throughout the night, so they avoid issues reaching emotional and educational milestones. We can also discuss stage-one orthodontics to help reduce the risk of major misalignment later in life.
