The holidays are a wonderful time to be with friends and family. For our troops stationed overseas, this time of year can be difficult. Help show appreciation for our servicemen and women by donating products for care packages. Dr. James Stewart, your Livonia family dentist, offers a way to participate.
Operation Gratitude
Since 2003, Operation Gratitude has been responsible for sending over 800,000 packages to American Military members. The mission of Operation Gratitude is “to lift morale, bring a smile to a service member’s face and express to our Armed Forces the appreciation and support of the American people.” Contents of shipped packages are valued between $75-100. The packages are assembled in Van Nuys, California at the National Guard armory to ensure safety. Packages not only go to U.S. Service Members, but also to their children in the U.S., and to Wounded Warrior Veterans and First Responders. Contributing to this collection drive is a fun, rewarding way to support our troops and their families.
What to Bring
We welcome a number of donations for this collection drive, but there are some product preferences. For instance, socks are a great contribution, but only dark colored socks (not white). A number of electronics are encouraged as well. This is a great opportunity to pass on your old cell phone or iPod. If you aren’t sure of what to purchase, chain store gift cards are good ideas. Items for children as well as our troops are encouraged, like video games. Webcam donations can help family and friends talk while overseas. See our flier for requested items and more accepted donations.
Where to Donate
We will be taking donations at our Livonia dentist office until December 5th. Call (734) 425-4400 for more details and office hours. Be sure to reach out to those in areas surrounding our 48154 dentist office to participate in this opportunity.
