Worries About Cosmetic Care Holding You Back

As you know, cosmetic care is one of the fields of dental care that we offer for a very good reason: We want to help you make your smile look its best, particularly in the wake of esthetic damage, such as discoloration, minor chips, and more. While this is likely knowledge that you’ve already soaked up in regard to cosmetic improvements, there may be some things holding you back. Our Livonia, MI team has discovered in more than one instance that little hurdles (that do not hold any actual weight) often stop patients from seeking the changes they want for themselves when they could otherwise receive care and feel amazing about their smiles! We would like to begin removing those obstacles with answers to frequently asked questions.

Questions and Answers

Question: What are the right ages for receiving cosmetic dental care? Surely there’s a point at which someone is too young or too old to receive something like teeth whitening, right?

Answer: Of course, not every age is suitable for cosmetic care. However, most ages are! When it comes to younger individuals, we generally do not begin providing esthetic improvements like teeth whitening until an individual is in his or her teens. As for the upper age range, there’s no limit! As long as you are a teen or an adult, you may qualify (but you should come in for a visit just to be sure).

Question: Is there some way to know if I’m really ready for cosmetic dental care? I’m worried about coming in to tell you that I’d like to make improvements, only for you to look at me and laugh, think I’m crazy, or not know how to respond. What if my smile isn’t healthy enough right now?

Answer: If you are not a candidate right now (and if you’re fairly sure that is because your smile is not currently healthy enough), remember that you should still bring this concern up with our team. We will be happy to talk it over with you, even if it takes a while for your smile to be ready.

Question: I need restorative care but I want to be sure that when my smile is healthy again, it also looks good. Does this mean I’m going to have to combine restorative treatments with cosmetic dental care now or down the road? Or, will your restorative treatments give me the results I’m hoping for?

Answer: It may be one or the other. In most cases, our restorative care alone is sufficient because we offer restorations with beautiful results. See us soon to learn more!
