For most patients with dental insurance, dental plans will expire at the end of the year. With the holiday season fast approaching, it’s more important than ever to schedule your appointments. Livonia dentist Dr. Stewart explains why you should take advantage of your dental benefits before the end of the year.
Delaying Dental Care
If visiting Dr. Stewart is something you’ve been meaning to do, but just haven’t quite got around to it, now is the time to schedule your appointment. Your wallet and your teeth will thank you. We recommend that you come in for professional dental checkups and cleanings at least twice a year, to supplement your daily brushing and flossing routine. If you haven’t managed to make it to your first visit, better late than never. If you’re due for your second visit, then now is the time, before your insurance benefits expire.
Saving Yourself Money
On the last day of 2012 your dental insurance deductable and all of the money you have contributed to it over the past twelve months will expire. You’ll have to begin the process anew in 2013. In addition to your deductable, dental benefits will also no longer be available for use. If you have yet to complete your treatment plan, meaning it is currently incomplete or open, completing your dental work this year instead of waiting until 2013 is probably the most cost-effective option. All of the money that has been put toward your deductible can be applied to these procedures, reducing the out-of-pocket expenses you will otherwise be putting forward if you wait until next year. Finally, if you haven’t been to visit Dr. James Stewart in the last 6 months, you dental insurance benefits may make you eligible for a fully covered dental cleaning and checkup.
